What is Nitinol?

Nitinol is a shape-memory alloy made of nickel and titanium. It exhibits two unique properties: shape memory effect, where it returns to a pre-defined shape when heated, and superelasticity, where it can withstand large deformations and return to its original shape upon unloading. It is commonly used in medical devices like stents, orthodontic wires, and surgical instruments, as well as in actuators, sensors, and aerospace applications.
