What is NIS-2?

NIS2 is the EU's Network and Information Security Directive 2, an updated version of the original NIS Directive. It aims to improve cybersecurity and resilience across the EU by setting minimum requirements for cybersecurity risk management measures and reporting obligations across a wider range of sectors considered critical infrastructure. It expands the scope of the original directive to include more sectors (e.g., public administration, manufacturing, digital providers), introduces stricter supervision and enforcement measures, and addresses supply chain security. NIS2 is commonly used as a framework for organizations to improve their cybersecurity posture, comply with EU regulations, and enhance their ability to prevent, detect, and respond to cyber incidents.
