What is NIMS?

NIMS, or the National Incident Management System, is a standardized, nationwide approach to incident management and response. It provides a common language and framework for all levels of government, the private sector, and non-governmental organizations to work together effectively during domestic incidents. It is used to prepare for, prevent, respond to, and recover from domestic incidents, regardless of cause, size, or complexity.
