What is NIDS/NIPS?

NIDS/NIPS stands for Network Intrusion Detection System/Network Intrusion Prevention System. A NIDS monitors network traffic for suspicious activity and alerts administrators, while a NIPS attempts to automatically block or prevent detected threats. They are commonly used to enhance network security by identifying and mitigating malicious activities, policy violations, and vulnerabilities.
