What is NHSN?

The National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) is a web-based surveillance system developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It's widely used by healthcare facilities in the United States to track healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and other adverse events. Facilities report data to NHSN, which then provides standardized data analysis and reporting tools. This allows facilities to compare their performance, identify areas for improvement, and participate in national benchmarking efforts. NHSN data is also used for public reporting and informing prevention strategies.
