What is Network IPS?

A Network Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) is a network security appliance that monitors network traffic for malicious activity. It actively blocks or prevents detected threats in real-time. IPS solutions analyze network traffic streams for patterns that match known attack signatures and can also employ behavioral analysis to detect anomalies that may indicate previously unknown threats. They are commonly used to protect networks from a wide range of attacks, including malware, exploits, and denial-of-service attacks.
