What is modeling and simulation?

Modeling and simulation (M&S) is the use of models – physical, mathematical, or otherwise logical representation of a system, entity, phenomenon, or process – as a basis for simulations, to develop data or predictions. In essence, it is a way to mimic the behavior of a system under various conditions without actually experimenting on the real system. It is commonly used in engineering, science, and business for design, analysis, and decision-making.
