What is MinION?
The MinION is a portable DNA and RNA sequencing device developed by Oxford Nanopore Technologies. It works by passing single strands of DNA or RNA through a protein nanopore embedded in a membrane. As the strand passes through, changes in electrical current are measured, which allows the nucleotide sequence to be determined. It's used for a variety of applications, including real-time pathogen identification, environmental monitoring, and rapid genome sequencing in remote locations.
