What is mechanical seals?

Mechanical seals are devices used to prevent leakage between a rotating shaft and a stationary housing in pumps, mixers, compressors, and other rotating equipment. They create a tight seal by using mating faces, one rotating with the shaft and the other stationary in the housing, pressed together by spring force and fluid pressure. This prevents process fluid from escaping and contaminants from entering.
