What is MAPPER?
MAPPER (Maintaining, Preparing, and Producing Executive Reports) was a fourth-generation programming language and database management system developed by Sperry Corporation, later Unisys. It was widely used for business applications, particularly report generation, data manipulation, and prototyping. Its strengths lay in its ease of use for non-programmers and its rapid application development capabilities. It allowed users to quickly create reports and manipulate data without requiring extensive programming knowledge. MAPPER is no longer widely used, but represents an early example of end-user computing and fourth-generation languages.
