What is malware?

Malware is software designed to intentionally cause harm to a computer, network, server, or its users. Common uses include stealing data (like banking information or personal data), extorting money through ransomware, disrupting operations, gaining unauthorized access, or spreading to other systems. Malware comes in many forms, including viruses, worms, trojan horses, spyware, adware, and rootkits.
