What is Lookups?

In computer science, a lookup table (LUT) is an array that replaces runtime computation with a simpler array indexing operation. It's essentially a precomputed table of values that can be retrieved quickly. Lookups are used to improve performance, especially when calculating computationally expensive functions or converting between different data formats. They are commonly used in image processing, signal processing, cryptography, and database indexing.
