What is Lineage?
LineageOS is a free and open-source operating system for smartphones and tablet computers, based on the Android mobile platform. It is a successor to the popular custom ROM CyanogenMod, from which it was forked in December 2016 when Cyanogen Inc. announced it was discontinuing development. LineageOS provides users with a version of Android that is often more customizable and up-to-date than what is offered by their device's manufacturer. It's commonly used by enthusiasts to extend the life of older devices, improve performance, remove bloatware, and gain access to newer Android features.
