What is LFS?

Git Large File Storage (LFS) is a Git extension developed by GitHub, Atlassian, and some open-source contributors that replaces large files such as audio samples, videos, datasets, and graphics with text pointers inside Git, while storing the file content on a separate server. It's used to keep Git repositories small and performant by avoiding storing large binary files directly in the repository.
