What is L7?
Layer 7, also known as the Application Layer in the OSI model, is the layer closest to the end-user. It provides the interface between the applications we use and the underlying network services. Protocols at this layer include HTTP, FTP, SMTP, DNS, etc. Layer 7 technologies often refer to application-level firewalls, load balancing, and traffic management that inspect and make decisions based on the content of the application data (e.g., HTTP headers, URLs).
