What is Kismet?

Kismet is a network detector, sniffer, and intrusion detection system. It's commonly used for wireless network discovery, wardriving, and identifying potential security vulnerabilities by passively listening to network traffic. It can identify networks by passively collecting packets and detecting standard named networks, detecting (and optionally decloaking) hidden networks, and inferring the presence of non-beaconing networks via data traffic.
