What is ITASE?

ITASE, or International Trans-Antarctic Scientific Expedition, is not a technology but rather a large-scale international scientific research project focused on reconstructing past climate variability using ice core data collected across Antarctica. The goal is to understand past climate changes and improve predictions of future climate scenarios. The project involves drilling ice cores at various locations along a traverse route across Antarctica, analyzing the ice for various parameters (e.g., temperature, chemical composition, gas content), and integrating the data to create a comprehensive record of past climate conditions.
