What is Internal Orders?

Internal Orders (IOs) are used within SAP (and other similar ERP systems) to plan, collect, and monitor the costs and revenues associated with specific projects, tasks, or departments within an organization. They are primarily used for internal cost accounting and reporting. Unlike sales orders, they don't involve external customers. Common uses include tracking marketing campaign costs, R&D project expenses, or overhead costs allocated to a particular department.
