What is Interconnects?

Interconnects refer to the pathways and technologies used to connect different components within a system, or different systems together. This can range from on-chip interconnects like buses and networks-on-chip that facilitate communication between processor cores and memory, to board-level interconnects like PCIe and various bus standards, to system-level interconnects like Ethernet, InfiniBand, and other networking technologies that enable communication between servers and data centers. They are crucial for determining overall system performance, bandwidth, latency, and scalability.
