What is in vivo?

"In vivo" refers to experimentation using a whole, living organism as opposed to a partial or dead organism (in vitro). In vivo studies are commonly used in biology and medicine to test the effects of drugs and other interventions on living subjects. Common uses include preclinical drug development, studying disease progression, and understanding physiological processes within a complete biological system.
