What is IDPS?

IDPS stands for Intrusion Detection and Prevention System. It is a security system that monitors network or system activities for malicious behavior or security policy violations. IDPS systems identify suspicious activity, log information about it, and then attempt to block or stop it, either automatically or by alerting security administrators. An intrusion detection system (IDS) primarily focuses on detecting malicious activity, while an intrusion prevention system (IPS) actively attempts to block or prevent detected intrusions. IDPS combines the functions of both.
