What is Hub?
In networking, a hub is a simple, relatively inexpensive device that connects multiple Ethernet devices (computers, printers, etc.) together in a single network segment. When a hub receives a data packet on one of its ports, it broadcasts that packet to all other ports. This makes hubs less efficient than switches, which learn MAC addresses and forward packets only to the intended recipient. Hubs are largely obsolete in modern networks, having been replaced by switches due to their improved performance and security.
