What is HBSS?

HBSS (Host-Based Security System) is a suite of security software applications used by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to monitor, detect, and counter threats to DoD computer systems and networks. It provides a layered approach to security by including components such as anti-malware, host-based intrusion prevention, firewall, and data loss prevention capabilities. It is commonly used to centrally manage endpoint security policies, enforce compliance, and provide real-time threat detection and response across a large network of hosts.
