What is Flex?

Apache Flex is an open-source application framework for building rich Internet applications (RIAs) that run identically on all major browsers, desktops, and operating systems. It uses the ActionScript language and the MXML markup language. Flex applications can be deployed as Flash applications, AIR applications, or as mobile applications for Android, iOS, and Blackberry devices. While Adobe stopped actively developing Flex, the project was donated to the Apache Foundation where it continues to be maintained by a community of developers.
