What is Flash?

Adobe Flash (formerly Macromedia Flash) was a multimedia software platform used for production of animations, rich Internet applications, desktop applications, mobile apps, mobile games, and embedded web browser video players. Flash displayed text, vector graphics, and raster graphics to provide animations, video games, and applications. It was commonly used for creating interactive web content, online games, and playing video and audio on websites. However, due to security vulnerabilities and the rise of HTML5, Flash has been largely phased out and is no longer actively supported by major browsers.
