What is ERCOT?
ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) is the organization that manages the flow of electric power to more than 26 million Texas customers, representing about 90 percent of the state's electric load. As the Independent System Operator (ISO) for the region, ERCOT schedules power on the Texas electric grid, accounts for energy transactions, and manages financial settlements for the competitive wholesale electricity market. It also ensures grid reliability and plans for long-term resource adequacy.
