What is Entity Extraction?
Entity extraction (also known as Named Entity Recognition or NER) is a subtask of information extraction that seeks to locate and classify named entities mentioned in unstructured text into pre-defined categories such as person names, organizations, locations, dates, quantities, monetary values, percentages, etc. It is commonly used to understand the subject of articles, or for use in customer support to quickly classify a request based on the entities that are mentioned.
