What is ECT?

ECT most likely refers to Electroconvulsive Therapy. It is a psychiatric treatment in which seizures are electrically induced in patients to provide relief from mental disorders. It is most commonly used to treat severe depression or bipolar disorder that has not responded to other treatments. It involves a brief electrical stimulation of the brain while the patient is under anesthesia.
