What is DTI?

Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) is a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technique that enables the mapping of the diffusion process of molecules, mainly water, in biological tissues, in vivo and non-invasively. DTI is commonly used to visualize white matter tracts in the brain, allowing researchers and clinicians to study brain connectivity, diagnose neurological disorders, and plan neurosurgical interventions.
