What is DSRC?

Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC) is a two-way short- to medium-range wireless communications capability that permits very high data transmission critical in communications-based active safety applications. It is commonly used for vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication, enabling applications like collision avoidance, traffic management, and electronic toll collection. Although initially promising, DSRC has largely been superseded by Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) technology.
