What is DESP?

DES (Data Encryption Standard) is a symmetric-key block cipher published by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). It uses a 56-bit key to encrypt data in 64-bit blocks. While once widely used, it has been superseded by more secure algorithms like AES due to its relatively short key length, which makes it vulnerable to brute-force attacks.
