What is Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM)?

Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) is a technology that multiplexes a number of optical carrier signals onto a single optical fiber by using different wavelengths (colors) of laser light. This allows for a significant increase in bandwidth, as multiple data streams can be transmitted simultaneously over the same fiber. It is commonly used in long-haul telecommunications to increase capacity in fiber optic networks.
