What is DAST/SAST?

DAST (Dynamic Application Security Testing) is a type of security testing that analyzes an application while it is running. It simulates real-world attacks to identify vulnerabilities that could be exploited. It is commonly used to find vulnerabilities such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), and broken authentication. SAST (Static Application Security Testing), also known as 'white box testing', analyzes the application's source code, bytecode, or binaries without executing the code. SAST tools scan the code for known vulnerabilities and coding errors that could lead to security problems. It's typically used early in the development lifecycle to identify and fix vulnerabilities before the application is deployed.
