Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) is a technology that multiplexes multiple optical signals onto a single optical fiber by using different wavelengths (colors) of light. It is commonly used to increase the bandwidth of existing fiber optic infrastructure without requiring the deployment of new fibers. CWDM is less expensive than DWDM but supports fewer channels.
