What is Cursors?

In computer science, a cursor is a visual indicator used to show the current position for user interaction on a computer display or other interface. It commonly indicates where the next input from the user will appear. The shape of a cursor often changes to provide additional information about the current operation or context (e.g., an I-beam to indicate text selection, an arrow to indicate a selectable object, or a spinning wheel to indicate processing activity). In database systems, a cursor is a control structure that allows traversal of records in a database. Cursors facilitate row-by-row processing of a result set returned by a query.
