What is Condition Monitoring?

Condition monitoring is the process of monitoring a parameter of condition in machinery (e.g., vibration, temperature, oil analysis) in order to identify a significant change that is indicative of a developing fault. It is a major component of predictive maintenance. Using this data, maintenance can be scheduled, or action can be taken to avoid the consequences of failure, before the failure actually occurs.
