What is chilled water?

Chilled water systems are commonly used for air conditioning in large buildings and industrial processes. Water is cooled in a central chiller plant and then circulated through pipes to air handlers or other cooling equipment throughout the building or facility, where it absorbs heat. The warmed water is then returned to the chiller plant to be cooled again, creating a closed-loop system. This approach is often more energy-efficient and cost-effective than individual air conditioning units, especially for large-scale cooling needs.
