What is CFTC?

CFTC stands for the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. It is an independent agency of the U.S. government created in 1974 that regulates the U.S. derivatives markets, which include futures, options, and swaps. Its mission is to protect market participants and the public from fraud, manipulation, and abusive practices related to derivatives, and to foster open, transparent, competitive, and financially sound markets.
