The CFM56 (also designated F108 in its military version) series is a high-bypass turbofan engine family manufactured by CFM International (CFMI). CFMI is a 50/50 joint company of Safran Aircraft Engines (formerly Snecma) of France, and GE Aviation (GE) of the United States. The CFM56 is one of the most successful aircraft engines in the world, commonly used on narrow-body airliners such as the Boeing 737 and the Airbus A320 family.
