What is CBN?

CBN most commonly refers to Cubic Boron Nitride, a synthetic crystalline material. It is extremely hard, second only to diamond, and possesses high thermal conductivity and chemical inertness. CBN is primarily used as an abrasive in grinding and cutting tools, especially for ferrous metals and other hard-to-machine materials. It can also be found in wear-resistant coatings.
