Category 6A (Augmented Category 6) cable is a twisted pair cable standard for Ethernet and other network physical layers that is backward compatible with the Category 5/5e and Category 6 cable standards. Cat 6A features more stringent specifications for crosstalk and system noise compared to Cat 6, and provides improved performance by utilizing higher quality conductors, different pair twists, and better shielding. It is commonly used for 10 Gigabit Ethernet applications, especially where longer cable runs are required, up to 100 meters.
