What is CAR-T?
CAR-T cell therapy is a type of immunotherapy where a patient's T cells (a type of immune cell) are genetically engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) on their surface. This CAR allows the T cells to recognize and bind to a specific protein (antigen) on cancer cells, enabling them to more effectively target and destroy the cancer cells. It is commonly used to treat certain types of blood cancers, such as leukemia and lymphoma, that have not responded to other treatments.
