What is Building Automation?

Building Automation (also known as Building Automation Systems or BAS) refers to the automatic centralized control of a building's heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), lighting and other systems through a building management system (BMS) or building automation system (BAS). The goals of building automation are improved occupant comfort, efficient operation of building systems, reduction in energy consumption, reduced operating and maintenance costs, increased security, and life cycle extension of equipment. Building Automation is commonly used in large commercial and industrial buildings, as well as residential complexes.
