What is BMS/EMS?

BMS typically refers to Building Management Systems. These are computer-based control systems installed in buildings that control and monitor the building's mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment such as ventilation, lighting, power systems, fire systems, and security systems. EMS commonly refers to Energy Management Systems. These are systems, often software-based, designed to monitor, control, and optimize energy consumption in a building or across a facility. Often, the terms BMS and EMS are used interchangeably, or the EMS functionality is integrated into a more comprehensive BMS. Both aim to improve building efficiency, reduce energy costs, and enhance occupant comfort and safety.
