What is Bluetooth/BLE?

Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard used for exchanging data over short distances (using short-wavelength UHF radio waves in the ISM band from 2.402 GHz to 2.48 GHz) from fixed and mobile devices, and building personal area networks (PANs). Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), also known as Bluetooth Smart, is a power-conserving variant of Bluetooth designed for applications like wearables, IoT devices, and beacons where long battery life is more important than high data transfer rates.
