What is Bar Code?

A bar code (or barcode) is a method of representing data in a visual, machine-readable form. Initially, bar codes represented data by varying the widths and spacings of parallel lines. These are called linear or one-dimensional (1D) bar codes. Later, two-dimensional (2D) codes were developed, using rectangles, dots, hexagons and other geometric patterns in two dimensions. Bar codes are commonly used to track inventory, identify products, and scan items at points of sale.

What other technologies are related to Bar Code?

Bar Code Competitor Technologies

RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) is a competing technology to bar codes. It uses radio waves to automatically identify and track tags attached to objects, offering advantages like longer read ranges, the ability to read multiple tags simultaneously, and not requiring a line of sight.
