What is Apex Code?
Apex is a proprietary, strongly-typed, object-oriented programming language developed by Salesforce.com. It's primarily used to execute flow and transaction control statements on the Salesforce platform servers, in conjunction with calls to the Salesforce.com APIs. Apex enables developers to add business logic to system events, such as button clicks, related record updates, and Visualforce pages. Because Apex is stored and executed on the Lightning Platform server, it is often used to create custom data access logic and automate processes within Salesforce.
