What is Active Directories?

Active Directory (AD) is a directory service developed by Microsoft for Windows domain networks. It centrally manages user accounts, computers, and other resources within a network. AD uses a structured, hierarchical data store for object information. It's commonly used for authentication and authorization, enabling single sign-on (SSO) and facilitating group policy management to enforce security settings and configurations across an organization's IT infrastructure.
