What is ACID?

ACID (Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation, Durability) is a set of properties that guarantee database transactions are processed reliably. Atomicity ensures all operations within a transaction are treated as a single 'unit', either all succeed, or all fail. Consistency ensures a transaction maintains the database's integrity constraints. Isolation ensures concurrent transactions do not interfere with each other. Durability ensures that once a transaction is committed, it remains so, even in the event of power loss, crashes, or errors. It is commonly used in relational database management systems (RDBMS) to ensure data integrity.
