What is 2-way SSL?

Two-way SSL, also known as mutual TLS (mTLS), is an authentication method where both the client and the server authenticate each other before establishing a secure connection. In addition to the server presenting its certificate to the client for verification (as in one-way SSL), the client also presents a certificate to the server. This ensures that both parties are who they claim to be, enhancing security. It is commonly used in scenarios requiring high levels of trust and security, such as API security, IoT device authentication, and financial transactions.
